The Moving Story
Join Atonement members and friends for a new Bible study beginning on November 15th from 6 -7 p.m. We will be using The Story: The Bible as One Continuous Story of God and His People. This abridged, chronological Bible weaves scripture stories together into a single grand narrative. As we gather in different people’s homes, we will “move around” and be “moved” by God’s word! Check your email messages and e post to find out the weekly location. The Moving Story will continue on Wednesdays until Ash Wednesday, February 14th.
Wednesdays in Lent
5:30 to 7:30
Join us for Vespers in the chapel. The first hour we will also have Bible readings and reflection/ discussion time. Then we will have light refreshments while coloring our new Psalms posters for the Lenten season.
Sharing our Faith Fridays
All are invited to join us at 5:00 pm at the Asbury Park Biergarten starting February 16th. Enjoy food and drinks while Pastor Gary leads a discussion series about speaking to our friends, neighbors and anyone about our faith. A collection will be taken to offset the cost of the meal.
(Cultivating Mission Capacity)
Atonement members are teaching a youth Bible class at United Methodist Church on Grand Ave and hoping that the teenagers might engage with young people in our own congregation. Atonement members are also teaching a Bible class at the Jersey Shore Adult Day Care Center on Main St. in Asbury Park and working with neighboring churches to develop housing for women who are homeless during the coldest months of the year (December 1 – March 31). The CMC team is hoping that others will become involved in these new ministries and in further addressing the goals noted above. If you would like to learn more about these opportunities, please contact the CMC team: Pastor Gary, Brenda Hunt, Carolyn and Ken Lafferty.
